First introduced in the spring of 2010 at CeBIT, the first Asus e-book reader was recently launched on the market. It’s not iPad, but it looks good nevertheless:

It has a 9-inch, 1024×768 touchscreen and minimal buttons on the sides. Compared to the regular e-book reader screen size (~6-inch), the 9-inch one offers 2.25 times the reading area. Plus, the display is not reflective – you can keep reading in broad daylight or under a bed light. Besides being large, it’s also extremely thin: only 10mm thick and it weighs 440 grams.
Eee reader DR900 is not a mere reading device, you can also connect to the internet to read the news, since it has both Wi-Fi and 3G (optional). It also features a virtual keyboard, for handwritten notes and even for drawing.
The reader supports PDF, TXT, ePub, HTML, FB2, it can read ZIP and CBZ files, and popular images formats including JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP for pictures. Iit can also play MP3s via the built-in stereo speakers or the 3.5mm headphone jack.
It has a built-in storage capacity of 2GB to 4GB, expendable to however much you need through the SD card slot.
The battery life is quite long, 10,000 page turns with wireless turned off. That’s roughly headphone jack for improved text-to-speech and MP3 listening.
Eee Reader will reportedly be available in Europe this December, priced 319 EUR.
