Pictures of the BlackBerry Bold Touch are finally here thanks to the good old folks over at GSM Arena. By examining the photos below, it would seem as there are no elements out of the ordinary compared to old and regular BlackBerry QWERTY devices. The main difference is the back panel which is now composed or carbon instead of faux-leather. The first time people heard of the BlackBerry Bold Touch was back in January, thanks to a leaked photo but also some leaked slides that spoke of this device with impressive features.
Amongst the specs of this device, you will encounter a 2.8 inch VGA touchscreen and the BlackBerry 6.1 operating system.
This new OS is meant to bring improvements and allow features that were strangers to BlackBerry: digital compass, NFC, etc. You may have heard of the BlackBerry Bold Touch in the past as being the BlackBerry Dakota or Montana. On the back of this new device you will be able to detect a camera with a 5 MP sensor which should also be capable of recording 720p videos but that it is still in the rumor phase. The device also has 8 GB of built-in memory and proximity plus accelerometer sensor.
According to GSM Arena, the Bold Touch is superior to the Torch is we compared the tactile experience. There is an all metal frame to this phone plus a carbon battery cover. It is claimed that the Bold Touch has 10.5 mm in thickness although nothing has been confirmed yet. Leaked slides have spoken of a dual-mode connectivity and a 1.2 GHz processor. If that is the case, users should be happy with the performance of the device. The dual-mode connectivity refers to CDMA and GSM 2G/3G.
