Darlings, this day was bound to come – all the people in the world who have a Facebook account will most probably like this phone, if you get the irony: HTC Status, or, more precisely the Facebook phone. What makes it so special? Of course, the Facebook button that is right under the QWERTY keyboard.
Let’s take things in detail. There is the branded “F” button in the lower-right button corner , the whole silver and white design that basically screams “Facebook”, the dedicated Facebook chat widget – that’s not something new but it’s one of the ingredients. Is that all? Unfortunately yes. What else were you expecting? The “F” button is dedicated entirely to updating your status. That’s where the name of the phone came from, a more than obvious fact.
The phone looks very nice, that’s something I have to admit, but the rest of the details will not make a shocking impression on you. Firstly, HTC Status has quite a small display – just 2.6 inch with a 480 x 320 resolution. By the way, the phone also comes with a touchscreen, besides the QWERTY keyboard. The 800MHz Qualcomm processor and the 512MB of RAM are satisfactory for the not so demanding ones. In any case, you wouldn’t be buying HTC Status for its power.
In the category of decent specs are the 5 MP rear camera and the VGA front-facing one and, of course, the fact that HTC Status will run on Android 2.3. That’s one big plus for HTC, the second one would be the fact that it comes at a really low price - $50 for a 2-year contract.
If you want a smartphone for facebook-ing, then HTC Status seems to be the right choice at least to give the right impression. In the case in which you’d like to do more with your phone than update your status and press the “like” button on your girlfriend’s picture, turn your head from this offer and aim higher.
