We’ve been talking about it, hoped and dreamed about it, but when is the Amazon tablet finally coming on the market? According to a recent report, we will not have to wait that long: October is the lucky month when iPad will start trembling and will face its enemy. All analysts and investors agreed on the second month of fall and rumoured some specs for us. Unfortunately there is still no visual info on the tablet.
So what will Amazon’s tablet come with? A 9-inch screen and of course Android 3.2 or a newer version if it is released by that time but no camera – that would be a first difference between Amazon’s baby and the iPad. The information stops here although everybody wished they knew more about it.
There already different rumours indicating an Asian manufacturer that would have received a specific order for Amazon’s tablet. According to a recent note written by computer hardware analysts at Canaccord Genuity to investors, Amazon is producing at least 1.5 million tablets for the third quarter of 2011. That is not all. The target for the entire year is of 4.5 or even 5 million units.

Amazon is beginning a rough battle. The iPad is the uncontested leader in the tablet market and it is already at its second generation. While it is true that Amazon already has a digital-content store and could sell its tablet at a much lower price, it lacks the brick and mortar outlet. Nobody said that Amazon could nail the iPad in the first trial but they surely must try. The secrecy around Amazon’s tablet has been quite intense: no pics, very scarce specs. I am wondering whether Amazon is not actually preparing a really huge surprise for us. Whatever it will be, everybody’s eyes and years. Looking forward to new info.
